    Fiber Sachets for Stored Fleece

And for all of you who can't quite get it together to ship your fleeces out to be processed with one of the companies listed above, the following recipe makes an aromatic achet to store with your fleeces. Mix and store together in an airtight container - shaking it once a day for a week then put about 2 tsp. in each sachet. To make sachet: Use cotton material (old sheets, etc. ) and cut in pieces about 6" x 3". Fold to make 3" by 3" and sew around entire edge, except for the last 2" or so. Turn right side out, put in mixture and sew or glue shut. Put in 1 for each bag of fleece. The recipe makes about 20-25 sachets. Note: This recipe was shared by Liz Mitchko of Whirlwind Ranch in Missouri. It is a modified recipe from one that appeared in the Spring 1996 Alpacas Magazine.

6 Tbs Lavender-dried (or Pennyroyal, tansy or red cedar chips)
2 Tbs Chammomile flowers 1 Tbs crumbled bay leaves
    1 tsp ground cloves
2 crushed cinnamon sticks (or 3 Tbs ground cinnamon)
    1 tsp orris root powder
    1 Tbs salt
