Shearing Day
Sunday, April 17, 2011
Shearing Day is one of the most important
days, as it is when we harvest the wonderful fleeces that our alpacas
and llamas have given us. I employ a professional shearer to come to my
ranch, and he can shear an entire fleece in about 15 to 20 minutes with
a minimum of stress to the animals.
If you would like to bring your animals for
shearing, please contact me in advance and let me know how many animals
you plan to bring. For non-show fleeces, a grooming blower is
available to remove vegetable matter, dust, and debris prior to
shearing to give you really clean fleece needing very little
skirting.
If you are a handspinner, shearing day is an
excellent time to pick out some really beautiful fleeces in a wide
variety of natural colors.
