Leasing a bred female for one breeding cycle enables you to accelerate the growth
of your alpaca herd for significantly less investment than if you bought a female outright.
For about one-half the price of an adult female, you will own her cria outright. The benefits to you are
that you can maintain gene diversity and alpaca quality--yet still enjoy the financial
benefits of owning alpacas.
Even if you don't yet own a ranch, or you're in the
process of developing acreage and ranch facilities for alpacas, leasing a bred female enables you to
get a quick-start in this business because you will have "crias on the way."
A lease contract for a bred female is for one breeding cycle at rates ranging between $8,500 to $12,500
with the bred female and cria to be boarded free at Able Oaks Ranch Alpacas until the cria is weaned at about 6 months of age.
The fee includes the stud service because all the females in the leasing program have been bred and are
pregnant. If additional boarding is required,
then the regular alpaca boarding services are available.
The only additional charges are for emergency vet expenses (if any) and insurance on your cria.
Able Oaks Ranch strongly encourages you to purchase full mortality insurance on your cria to protect your
investment.
No interest financing for one full year is available on all lease packages with a 1/3 payment down
and the balance payable on the birth of the cria on a schedule that we both accept.
Lease terms may start at anytime during the 1st & 2nd trimesters and will end no later than when the
cria is weaned--at about 6 months after birth.
Alpaca leases include the guarantee of a live cria birth that survives for 7 days.
In the rare event that the cria is not born or doesn't survive for 7 days,
then you may either release that female, or another comparable female (when available), and have all
payments made-to-date apply to the new lease. In addition, your cria is guaranteed to be registerable
with the Alpaca Registgry, Inc. (ARI) and to be breeding quality livestock.
If you lease a female, you will also be entitled to breed your cria at a 50% stud fee discount to any of my
available herdsires.
Able Oaks Ranch cannot guarantee either the sex or the color of the cria. So if you cannot tolerate getting
a male cria, then this leasing program is probably not for you. However if you already have, or will be
acquiring unrelated females, then getting an excellent quality male cria enables you to add a nice
potential herdsire to your breeding program. Read about the advantages of
